Student Council: on CENTRO
Last night there was a meeting concerning issues that students are having with the Warehouse bus schedule. Here are a few quick notes from that meeting:
The week before and the week of finals buses will run 24/7
Apparently there is a 9:07 bus in addition to the 9:05 and 9:10 bus that has not been running. It is being looked into. Yay for more buses to get us to 9:30 classes!!!
We discussed possibly having an express bus in addition to the longer bus route after 6pm. The reason why the bus route changes has to do with the “Near West Side Initiative”; although we are all for the “Near West Side Initiative”, maybe our bus line is not the best one to use to promote it.
Also mentioned: buses completely driving by students and not picking them up at designated bus stops. We will be getting on Centro to make sure that does not happen.
A number of students in the Warehouse are concerned with walking to their cars late at night. We were talking about getting the same services that they have on main campus in the Warehouse (shuttle you home, escort you home). They made it very clear that they want us all to feel safe leaving the building late at night.
Parking: it costs $65 per year to purchase an evening parking pass for Manley Field House. After 5pm this pass applies to all orange lots on campus. You can purchase an E-Z pass type deal for $40 (which is returned to you at the end of the year) so you can open the gate to park in the Warehouse lot. Something to look into…
I will post more info soon. If you have questions or concerns, go to your class representative. They will send your concerns to the appropriate people.
